There are many types of t-shirt on the market today. You can choose from the highly fashionable ones in high street stores and at online retailers or choose to go for the official merchandise available from sporting teams or official band websites. Then there are the joke t-shirts that can be found in holiday resort gift shops, or even those that can be bought to commemorate certain events in an individual’s life or world events that occur at some stage. Funny t-shirts can be bought from any number of retailers today but are usually found in specialist t-shirt shops or gift shops. This is a vital quality that has lifted them above the vintage and fashionable t-shirts and ensured that they will always be relevant to society. Another advantage that funny t-shirts have over other types of t-shirt is that they appeal to everyone. Everyone has a sense of humour and will laugh at a funny joke. They evolved from the t-shirts of the 1970s that displayed protest messages and political views. In fact, they were initially meant to make fun of the people that actually designed and wore the activist t-shirts because the establishment had no real other way of discrediting the people that wore them. Funny t-shirts generally have a tried and tested formula. They tend to have a plain background and a slogan written across the front or back in big and bold block letters. There may or may not be a picture or a logo but if there is then it will often only be a simple picture that is easy to see because it always adds something to the humour. Funny t-shirts are never too busy because it will detract from the joke and that would cause people to completely miss the point of the t-shirt in the first place.
This tried and tested formula works and is the reason why funny t-shirts are so popular. If the point behind the joke was easy to miss then they would have disappeared a long time ago. It is those ironic jokes that also serve to document exactly what is going on in society at the time as well.
